Members Provide Input on 2017 Legislative Issues

More than 120 MREA school board members, administrators and teachers participated in MREA’s Fall Member Meetings over the last month to provide input on issues likely to arise in the 2017 legislative year. The four major issues discussed were:

  1. Early Learning
    Rising early learning needs and attention
  2. Quality Teachers
    Increasing difficulty attracting and retaining quality teachers
  3. Funding Student Needs
    Meeting student needs across the state through operating and facility funding
  4. Filling Gaps
    Providing equal opportunities for students in small schools

Continue Discussion at Online Meetings

MREA members can continue to engage in this process by attending one of three upcoming On-Point Meetings targeted to specific topics. These one-hour virtual meetings are free to members and will be hosted as online webinars. Topics discussed will be:

  • Concurrent Enrollment & Other Issues: Tuesday, September 27
  • Funding Student Needs: Monday, October 10
  • Small Schools Funding: Tuesday, October 18
